Displaying Real-time EEG Using MindWave & MATLAB

Jacob Bollinger, a cognitive neuroscientist at University of California, San Francisco uploaded a video testing various devices for displaying his real time electroencephalograms (EEG). He finally shows it by using Neurosky Mindwave and MathWorks MATLAB ….

Jacob gave a feedback of various Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) used in gaming which includes OCZ Neuro Pulse Actuator, Neurosky MindFlex and Neurosky Mindwave.

He basically used neurofeedback and brain training game BCI headset MindWave together with EEGLAB (Open source MATLAB toolbox for EEG processing to implement an accurate and affordable EEG system. Getting a real-time EEG data and power spectrum from a commercially available device looks so much easier now?

    Hi Jacob,

    Thanks for the cool demo. You mentioned a delay when discussing the MindWave. I was wondering if you could elaborate: how much delay is there between an action and the data being received at the computer?

    Great post! I am thinking about purchasing the mindwave. How can I get it to work with matlab and perhaps record my eeg?

      That’s not an easy task. It has a lot of coding involved in MATLAB.
